Mother’s Day

4 Gift Ideas to Celebrate Mom

It may not have the notoriety of Christmas or Thanksgiving, but one of our favorite holidays is Mother’s Day. It’s a shame that there’s only one day a year set aside to celebrate the special women who gave birth to us, fed us, protected us, taught us, and loved us, but at least we can do our best to make that day a special one. For many sons and daughters, that means getting her a gift. But for someone as special as mom, how do you find an equally meaningful memento? Here are a several gift ideas that she’s sure to love.

Flowers for Mother’s Day

Chances are your mom loves flowers, which makes a bouquet of blooms a solid option. Unfortunately, however, most fresh-cut flora doesn’t live longer than a couple days. For a favorable flower with more lasting power, give her an orchid; its brilliant color and elegant display will keep for weeks. For true longevity, consider plantings for the garden or even a rose bush. She’ll get to enjoy its beauty every day, and it stands as a lasting testament of your love.

Mother’s Day Art

A gift of fine art brings color, beauty, and class to a home, and mom will love the exclusivity of owning a one-of-a-kind item. But for a gift that really reaches her heart, hire an artist to paint a family portrait. Pet portraits also are becoming extremely popular and would make a perfect gift for a mom who is passionate about her pooch.

A Special Mother’s Day

The best Mother’s Day gifts are those that make memories, so treat mom to a special day out. If she likes the glitz and glamour of the big city, an evening of fine dining and tickets to her favorite show would be in order. Many women love the outdoors, so a picnic at the beach or lake and an afternoon of horseback riding could be a lovely way to spend the day. Even if it’s just a family cookout on the deck or patio, make sure mom gets the day off and you take care of the preparations, cooking, and cleanup.

A Special Place

Everyone needs their own space, and mom’s no different. So, this year give her the gift of a private haven all her own. If you’ve put off finishing the basement, turn it into a special sanctuary for her to explore her passions or express her creativity. Our favorite idea, however, is a gazebo or pergola installation. Both offer a quiet and cozy spot for relaxing, reading, or just sitting and watching the garden or bird feeders.

Excel Fencing & Decking wishes a happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. If there’s anything we can do to make your day a special one, please give us a call.
